The avatar that the game provides can only give a general idea of what your character is like. It's up to you to fill in the details like height and weight, how attractive she is, her socioeconomic class, her family background, and her hobbies/interests. To help with the realism of other players being able to "see" things about your character such as an emaciated state, scarring, a rash, a missing eye, or what have you, you may want to try roleplay add-ons such as MyRoleplay or Immersion RP, which are used by a great many DPers.
Here is a basic outline of the bare minimum you should know about your character:
- Name: Please adhere to the naming conventions of your race, and choose a last name as well (if applicable
- some races do not have them).
- Hair Color: Should be consistent with race and similar to avatar.
- Eye Color: Should be consistent with race and similar to avatar.
- Height/Weight: Approximate. Is he big for his race/gender, or is he a puny specimen?
- Age: Will vary widely depending on age of adulthood for your character's race, and your character's backstory.
- Social Status: Rich or poor? Noble or commoner? Do these terms even have meaning in your character's culture?
- Family: Who are your parents, or who were they, if they no longer live? Do you have (or did you have siblings)?
Married or single? Children?
- Hometown: If you're not using one of our handy-dandy Generic Backstories, be sure you do research and make
sure it makes sense to be "from" where you are from.
- Concept: This is a 2-5 word description of how you envision your character. Examples include "goofy goth paladin,"
"pyromaniac country girl" or "spoiled, thrillseeking noblewoman."
For World of Warcraft races, you can find a guide at the bottom of each race
page that addresses these nine aspects of your character.
