Dramatis Personae, to put it simply, is an online roleplaying association. More specifically, DP is an open internet forum-based community of creative, mature, caring, and fun-loving adults who have banded together to create memorable comedy and drama using World of Warcraft as our stage. We have also established a set of reasonable standards by which we can evaluate roleplay and improve our own skills.
The members of Dramatis Personae vary in their guild and server affiliations. People come and go as they please, sometimes leaving for months at a time and returning to pick up where they left off. Those who remain with us long-term do so because they enjoy it, and because they share the following core beliefs about roleplay:
IMPORTANT: Dramatis Personae Members (who refer to themselves as DPers) are devoted, immersive roleplayers. Those who roleplay more casually or "part-time" can probably meet all their needs in any number of roleplay guilds. The purpose of Dramatis Personae, on the other hand, is to reach out to those who are looking for something more expansive and immersive... those who are looking to forget that it's a game for an hour or two and lose themselves in an epic tale. Sound good to you? Then you might want to become a Dramatis Personae member!
A DP Member is someone who:
Join a roleplay guild, or don't join a roleplay guild - it's up to you. Dramatis Personae is something else entirely!
DP is an ever-growing pool of players with similar goals and philosophies, rather than an affiliation of specific characters on a specific server. So if you get tired of a certain character, or want to try a new server, you don't have to start over from scratch and meet all new people (unless you just want to!). Our loyalty at DP is to roleplay, and to each other - not to any particular server. If you're enjoying your current guild and server, stay put (and join DP too)! But if things go sour or your guild gracefully retires from service, we'll still be here for you.
DP is a stable community because it is based on principles, not people. Members and even Producers come and go, but our standards stay the same. That's why DP has grown and improved consistently since 2003. Our unyielding devotion to our Roleplay Standards and Code of Conduct, combined with our flexibility in everything else, is what has kept us strong over the years.
